Over time, I've been gradually working through a personal catalog of iconic video games. These titles either weren't accessible during my childhood or arrived before my time. A driving curiosity involves discovering the groundbreaking elements and cultural impact these releases originally carried. Final Fantasy 7 perfectly illustrated this phenomenon: vintage promotional materials conveyed an epic, cinematic quality. Its production involved hundreds of developers, making it unmistakably the gaming equivalent of a blockbuster film release. While the gameplay held up reasonably well, the adolescent melodrama feels considerably dated today. I was lucky to access an authentic narrative experience through a fan translation, made possible by an XStation modification I installed on my original PlayStation.
